Who Should File a Tax Return in Pakistan?
Under Section 114 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, any individual who:
- Earns above the taxable income threshold
- Owns immoveable property or a vehicle
- Has a business or rental income
- Wants to be included in the Active Taxpayer List (ATL)
Documents Required to File Income Tax Return
- CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card)
- Salary Certificate (if salaried)
- Bank Statements for the fiscal year
- Business income details
- Details of assets & liabilities

How to File Return Using FBR IRIS
- Go to the IRIS Login Portal
- Login or click “Registration for Unregistered Person” if filing for the first time.
- Update your profile under Registration (Form 181).
- Open Income Tax Return under “Declaration” for the relevant tax year.
- Enter your income, tax deductions, and already paid tax details.
- Complete Wealth Statement (Form 116) and reconciliation.
- Validate and click Submit.
